1.   Purpose

 

This committee is responsible for providing opportunities for members to learn and practice evangelism so that they may be better equipped to articulate their faith, to witness in word and deed to the saving grace of Jesus Christ, to invite the un-churched into a new life in Christ and to assimilate new members into the life and ministry of the church. Its duties include:

 

2.   Care of Members

 

a.   Maintain knowledge of and contact with membership.

 

b.   Devise and implement methods to reach inactive members.

 

c.   Provide greeters at access doors prior to and after worship services.

 

3.   First time Visitors (Bread Ministry)

 

a.   Maintain visitation program for all first time visitors.

 

b.   Coordinate with ushers to pick up attendance sheets after worship services.

 

c.   Maintain church brochures, keeping information current and ordering additional copies as necessary.

    

     d.   Maintain inventory of supplies for attendance pads and visits.

 

e.   Maintain adequate inventory of bread in freezer for delivery to first time visitors.

 

4.   Outreach to Un-churched and Prospective Members

 

a.   Maintain list of prospective members.

    

     b.   Maintain visitation program for prospective members.

    

     c.   Periodically schedule and implement receptions for frequent visitors.

    

     d.   Devise and implement methods to reach out to the un-churched.

 

5.   Receiving and Assimilating New Members

 

a.   Organize and implement the process by which new members are received into membership.

   

b. Maintain contact with new members for a reasonable length of time.

 

c.       Assist new members as they get involved in the life of the church.

 

d.      Schedule and implement new member and orientation classes.

 

6.   Advertising and Public Relations

 

a.   Coordinate advertising in news media and in Yellow Pages of the telephone book.

    

     b.   Secure media coverage for special events.

    

     c.   Develop and maintain a program to reach new residents.

    

     d.   Ensure that directional signs make church visible and accessible.

    

     e.   Maintain and encourage use of an active website.

 

7.   Time and Talent

 

a.   Ensure new members fill out Time and Talent survey and have information entered into church database.

 

b.   Distribute Time and Talent information for new members to the appropriate committee chairs.

    

     c.   Periodically update Time and Talent information for current members.

 

8.   Pictorial Directory

 

a.   Periodically update the church pictorial directory and distribute to the membership.

 

9.   Miscellaneous

 

a.   Prepare an annual operating budget for the committee and upon approval; operate committee in accordance with same.
