1. Purpose

 

The Nurture Committee cares for all members of the church with special attention given to those who are sick, shut-in, and grieving. This committee’s duties include: 

 

2. General Care of Members     

 

a. Keep congregation informed of needs and concerns through bulletin board and Sunday Morning Prayer concerns.

b. Provide meals for families who have recently lost a family member.

c. Maintain a prayer chain list and communicate needs to people on the prayer chain.

 

3.  Shut-ins

 

a, Provide for the care for shut-ins by keeping in regular contact by phone, personal visit, cards, email. Remember birthdays and holidays. Provide support for family when appropriate.

 

b. Provide homebound Communion by coordinating with the pastors for a monthly celebration of communion with shut-ins.

 

d. Work to support the Presbyterian Women in their visitation efforts that include gift bags and special visits throughout the year and at various holidays.

 

4.      Grief Support

 

a.   Provide support to the family of those who have recently experienced a loss.

 

5.      Transportation Committee

 

a. To provide transportation to those members in need of assistance on either a temporary or permanent basis.

 

6.   General Growth  

 

a.   Explore areas of growth in caring for our members. These might include but are not limited to educating and providing support for people caring for aging parents, experiencing grief, family difficulties, or need of marriage enrichment. 

 

7.   Miscellaneous

 

a.       Prepare an annual operating budget for the committee and, upon approval, operate committee in accordance with same.
