1. Purpose
The committee is responsible for
scheduling and providing for the worship of the congregation, including the
proclamation of the Word through word and music, and the administration of the
Sacraments. Its duties include the areas below.

Worship Services
a.
Maintaining appropriate
physical arrangement of Sanctuary for worship service

Candles
i.
Selection of acolytes
2)
Flowers
b.
Supply personnel for the
leadership of music and worship, including lay leaders, children’s choirs,
children’s sermons, etc.
1)
Provide training
guidance to lay leaders and those delivering the children’s sermon
c.
Plan and organize
special worship services (e.g., alternative worship)

Help devise, promote,
and publicize special services of worship
d.
Coordinate services in
the Sanctuary, such as weddings and funerals
e.
Update and publicize
procedures and guidelines for funerals and weddings
f.
Make recommendations for
appropriate memorial gifts
g.
Arrange for pulpit
supply in the absence of pastor(s)
3.
Congregational
Care
a.
Train and schedule
Elders to serve communion in worship.
b.
Recruit, train and
schedule ushers for worship services.

Provide 4 ushers for collecting
the offering
i.
Collect all tithes and
offerings from the offering plates following the service
c.
Provide for the care and
comfort of congregation. Maintain the
heat and air conditioning at comfortable levels, set lighting and sound systems
at appropriate levels, and provide bulletins and other worship aids as needed.

Assimilation Team to ensure greeters are scheduled

Tabulate and record
attendance

Coordinate with
Assimilation Team in distributing and collecting the pew pads
3)
After the service,
restore the Sanctuary to good order including the collection of bulletins and
other paper left in the pews; return hymnals and bibles to the pew racks; refill
visitor cards.

Coordinate with Youth-CE
Team to ensure youth volunteers are available

Services
a.
With pastor and music
director plan seasonal services of worship
b.
Develop, update, and
provide bulletin covers for use in worship throughout the year
c.
Coordinate the music
program through its director and choirs
5.
Sanctuary Guild
a.
Change the paraments on
pulpit and communion table in accordance with the church calendar. Store and
maintain paraments in good condition
b.
Fill and empty the
baptismal font for scheduled baptisms
c.
Prepare the Communion
elements for scheduled communion services, and clean up afterwards.

Schedule volunteers to
serve communion (usually 1st Sunday of
the month)
d.
Set up worship
accessories and remove after use. (Prepare offering plates, candles,
candelabra, special decorations, and other accessories such as Advent and
Lenten Wreath, Christmas decorations, banners, etc.)
e.
Keep worship accessories
clean and metal items polished
6. Wedding Committee
The Wedding Committee will be comprised of individuals
with a particular interest in overseeing the details of a wedding, the pastor,
the organist, a representative of Properties and Operations, the facilities
manager, the administrative secretary, and the chairperson of Music and
Worship. Committee functions include:
a.
Preparation and revision
of the wedding policies and fee schedule as deemed necessary.
b.
Assigning one member to
serve as assistant to the pastor(s) in directing each wedding, and as a liaison
between the bride (or groom) and the church during the planning phase of the
wedding, wedding rehearsal dinner, or wedding reception being planned for our
facilities when the ceremony is held at St Andrews.
c.
Recommend purchase of
accessories useful for a wedding.
7.
Interior
Decorating and Arts Committee
a.
Serve as consultants and
give final approval for permanent furnishings and accessories for worship with
the approval of the Session
b.
Make the church
membership and community aware of related fine arts events
c.
Maintain a list of gifts
purchased with memorial contributions
1.
Coordinate this tracking
list with the Stewardship Team and Session
d.
Encourage artistic
expression within the church community through such creative activity as
needlework, banners, pageants, etc.
8.
Organ
Oversight
of the organ committee will be conducted by the music director, the St Andrew’s organist,
the pastor, and the chairperson of Music and Worship committee.
a.
Promotion and planning for recitals and concerts featuring the organ.
b.
Oversee maintenance and repairs of the organ.
9.
Miscellaneous
a. Prepare an annual operating budget for
Session review
